Mass Transfer of High Concentration Ozone with High-Efficiency Injectors
This technical paper explains how high concentration ozone can achieve very high mass transfer efficiency in water when combined with the right operating conditions and properly designed equipment. The study focuses on the use of high efficiency venturi injectors and degassing separators to improve ozone dissolution, reduce undissolved off-gas, and support more effective ozone water treatment systems. Key findings show that higher transfer efficiency is associated with higher ozone concentration, proper injector discharge pressure, lower gas-to-liquid ratios, fine bubble dispersion, and sufficient detention time. The paper also shows that while higher ozone dosage can increase dissolved ozone levels, efficiency may decrease as the system approaches ozone solubility limits. This makes the document a valuable reference for engineers and system designers working with side stream ozonation, dissolved ozone applications, and industrial or municipal water treatment.
